About

who we are

Just a little about us...

The Montana Society of CPAs (MTCPA) has been at the forefront of advancing the accounting profession in Montana since 1913. Born from a small group of accountants in Butte, the Society quickly expanded as professionals from across the state joined forces. Today, MTCPA continues its original mission to function as an advocate for the profession through education, public awareness, government relations and promotion of high ethical standards.

With nearly 1,400 members worldwide, MTCPA remains dedicated to providing the resources and support needed to inspire and empower accountants to achieve professional excellence.

Our membership base includes CPAs in public practice, corporate finance, government, education, staff working with CPAs, as well as students and graduates working towards their CPAs.

CPA Licensing in Montana

We know it can be confusing, but MTCPA does not provide licensing. The Montana State Board is a state agency issuing CPA licenses and firm permits, while MTCPA is the professional association representing Montana CPAs.

For information on the requirements necessary to obtain or renew a CPA license in Montana, please contact the Montana Board of Public Accountants.
